The 9.37 km Central Secretariat-Kashmere Gate corridor, part of Delhi Metro's Phase III, will have a total of seven stations and is expected to ease traffic in congested areas like ITO, Janpath, Kashmere Gate and Daryaganj, among others.

The corridor will be an extension of the existing Central Secretariat-Badarpur line and, according to DMRC officials, the entire stretch will be completed by 2016.

Dikshit also said the DMRC has acquired expertise in completing the projects meticulously within the stipulated time period.

With completion of the third phase of DMRC, she said the route length of Delhi Metro services will be more than 300 km.

'The government will continue to provide its fullest cooperation and support to the DMRC for commissioning the lines under phase-III. It is also commendable that huge construction work is on without any disruption in flow of traffic and any inconvenience to the citizens,' she said.

Dikshit expressed confidence that the corridor between Central Secretariat and Kashmere Gate will be commissioned by early 2015.

The Chief Minister said that Rs 37,736 crore will be spent to complete corridors under phase-III.
