Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday was relieved by a court of a case that alleged violation of election code, which said there was not enough evidence to proceed against her. Later, the police withdrew the complaint.

Metropolitan Magistrate Vijeta Singh declared as 'dismissed and withdrawn' the complaint in which the chief minister was accused of violating the model code of conduct in 2008 assembly election.

Police had sought withdrawal of the case lodged by the then Samajwadi Party candidate Om Prakash against Dikshit for allegedly using loud speaker during election campaign in 2008 without permission by authorities.

The police, in its application seeking withdrawal of the case, had said its records do not reflect that any loud speaker or handheld hailer was seized during the probe.

Om Prakash had lodged the complaint against Dikshit to the Chief Election Commissioner in November 2008 alleging she was using a handheld hailer for addressing the public in contravention of election rules in the assembly constituency under the jurisdiction of Mandir Marg police station.
