Differently-abled sportspersons felicitated

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and the Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, on <g data-gr-id="25">Thursday</g> felicitated 15 differently-abled <g data-gr-id="16">sports persons</g> who won medals at the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2015, held in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 2, 2015.

“We are so happy for all of you, as you have made India proud in the world. We have to give you the best of the facilities and would like to know from the trainers and the mentors about what more can the Delhi government do for them,” said Kejriwal. The 15 differently-abled sportspersons had won seven gold, two silver and fifteen bronze medals at the game. In total, 6,500 sportspersons from 165 countries had participated in the game, which features 25 different sporting events. Out of the 15 medal winners of India, eight sports persons are female. The sportspersons were felicitated with a cash incentive of Rs 10 lakh each for <g data-gr-id="20">gold</g> medal, Rs 6 lakh each for silver medal and Rs 4 lakh each for <g data-gr-id="21">bronze</g> medal.

“When you were competing in Los Angeles, we were reading updates about your victory. I was so happy to read those updates; I am here to do more for you all. We all are a family and you people are our pride,” said Manish Sisodia.
