Diabetic foot syndrome requires special care, say doctors

In an attempt to create awareness about diabetic foot syndrome, Amrapali Hospital in association with the Uttar Pradesh Diabetes Association (UPDA) organised a seminar (CME) on diabetic foot management on the occasion of ‘Doctor’s Day.’ More than 50 doctors attended the meet.

Dr Swapnil Shikha, Director Amrapali Healthcare emphasised on increasing the awareness of diabetes and its complications among the Indian population. She said, “since <g data-gr-id="24">diabetic</g> foot is the most common skeletal and soft tissue infection in a patient suffering from diabetes, educating people about this dreaded complication will help curb the need for amputations.”

Presentation on diabetic foot pathophysiology and management was given by Dr Amit Gupta, Dr Saurav  Srivastava, Dr Vipin Mishra and Dr Amitesh Aggarwal. 

The diabetologist  Dr Vipin Mishra said that “every diabetic patient must get his foot examination done annually.  Diet control and cessation of smoking have a major preventive role in the development of <g data-gr-id="22">diabetic</g> foot.” 

The event was concluded by <g data-gr-id="20">Ritik</g> Kumar Sinha, Director Amrapali Hospital who said, “Amrapali healthcare is soon coming up with facilities providing complete medical care for a diabetic patient”.
