Development the key word in Jangalmahal on polling day

Peace and development became the magic words that helped Trinamool Congress to earn the confidence of thousands of people in 18 constituencies who cast their votes on the first day of the first phase of election on Monday.

Average polling in these constituencies varied from anything between 75% and 82%. In the remote villages polling took place peacefully with the voters standing in front of the booths to exercise their franchise.

On Monday, polling has proved beyond doubt that peace and development are the things which the voters want. Of the 18 constituencies where election was held Trinamool has 8 MLAs, Congress has three MLAs and Left Front has 7 MLAs.

This is for the first time when the people of Jangalmahal and its adjoining area have seen development. It was so evident that the fear psychosis which was created by the Maoists had completely gone from the minds of people.

The Lalgarh bridge has come as a blessing for the people of the area. The bridge has shortened the distance between Lalgarh and Jhargram by 22 km.  Earlier, people had to go to Midnapore to reach Jhargram.

The construction of a model school, degree college, nursing college and a school for SC students to be run by the Ramakrishna Mission have increased the faith of the people on Trinamool. Free medical treatment and the super specialty hospitals have been appreciated by the people.

The assurance of two square meals a day under Khadyasathi project has worked as a miracle. “Peace, development and a square meal a day have made Mamata Banerjee someone very close to our heart,” said Abhiram Murmu, a resident of Jangalmahal.
