DERC chief summoned to Assembly post alleged irregularity in discoms

Earlier in the day, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) demanded summoning of the DERC chairman to answer questions on the performance of discoms.

Sangam Vihar MLA’s Dinesh Mohania slammed discoms as well as the DERC chief for always supporting discoms. Mohania was speaking during the special mentioned Rule-280.

DERC had once accepted an accumulated revenue gap of Rs 11,430 crore for the three discoms till 2011-12, for which an eight per cent surcharge was imposed as a recovery mechanism. But the revenue gap, which should have reduced a year later, was increased to Rs 13,670 crore.

“In the last 13 years, DERC has not been working for public interest, so the functioning of DERC must be reviewed,” said Dinesh Mohania.

On the first day of the two-day Delhi Assembly session, MLAs demanded that the Delhi Electricity
Regulatory Commission chairman should be summoned to answer questions based on the performance of discoms.
