Dengue claims three more lives, toll mounts to 33

Three more persons, including a 13-year-old boy, died of dengue in the national Capital, taking the toll to 33.

<g data-gr-id="15">Phatam</g> (13) was admitted to the medicine ward of AIIMS on September 22 in a critical condition, with internal bleeding, and died of dengue on Saturday afternoon, said AIIMS authorities. Other victims include 50-year-old <g data-gr-id="16">Gajendri</g>, a resident of Jawala Nagar, who passed away on Sunday at Swami Dayanand Saraswati Hospital in East Delhi and a 20-year-old man who died at GTB Hospital.

The fresh deaths take the toll in Delhi to 33 this season, even though the official casualty figure is yet to be updated from 17 reported on September 24. The Delhi government has recently ordered that no hospital should deny admission to a dengue patient.
Meanwhile, officials at AIIMS said that a woman from West Bengal died there of dengue on Saturday. 

Nearly 1,700 fresh dengue cases have been reported in the city in the past week, taking the total number of people affected by dengue to 5,471. Last year, the city had reported three deaths and recorded nearly 1,000 cases.
