Speaking to the media persons BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi lambasted the finance minister by saying that the latest gimmick of finance ministry by demonetizing the notes before 2005 is an attempt to obfuscate the issue of black money stashed outside the country.
She said, ‘We have a zero tolerance on black money issue. Those who are having black money in foreign banks will not get an opportunity to make it white. We strongly condemn this. No efforts have been made by the present government to retrieve the black money. It has deliberately constituted three committees one is National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM) in Faridabad, Haryana. There was confusion among the units and retrieval of black money became an impossible task.’
While blaming that despite having proof the UPA government has purposely done nothing to book people having black money, Lekhi said, ‘HSBC bank account and other information were made available to the govt. and yet no criminal prosecution has been launched against the holders of such bank accounts. There seems to be a conspiracy of silence by the present government.’
