Demand in RS for live feed of court proceedings

A call was on Thursday made in Rajya Sabha for steps to be taken for the video recording and live telecast of court proceedings.
Putting forth the demand through a special mention, Shiv Sena member Anil Desai said that while parliamentary proceedings are telecast in the country, a similar mechanism could be followed with respect to courts.
He said that such a system could be first installed in the higher courts and then be gradually expanded to include the lower courts.
Desai said it would save the time of the courts and also ensure other benefits like encouraging more responsible behaviour during proceedings.
Among the other special mentions moved on Thursday was a demand by BJP MP Tarun Vijay seeking to name Sainik Schools after Param Veer Chakra honorees.
