Demand for panel to probe Netaji’s Faizabad connection gaining ground

Leaders from different walks of the life has demanded from the Uttar Pradesh government to immediately constitute a probe committee as directed by the Allahabad High Court to find out whether Gumnami Baba alias Bhagwanji was Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Senior politician and a five-term MLA from Rae Bareli Akhilesh Singh said that the UP government should not delay in setting up the committee as directed by the HC.

‘The people should know whether Bhagwanji, who died in 1985 in Faizabad, was Netaji as per the evidences found after his death,’ he told mediapersons along with other dignitaries.

Subhash Chandra Bose Rashtriya Vichar Kendra, Faizabad president Shakti Singh said tht the truth will only be established if the court’s order is followed in letter ad spirit.

‘The state government must, without any delay, set up a multi-disciplinary inquiry with powers of a civil court to summon any person from any part of the country and required him to furnish information under oath, and requisition any official record from any state or Central government office,’ Singh, who is one of the petitioner in the HC, further said.

Bhagwanji stayed at the house of Shakti Singh in Faizabad during his last two years.

Former journalist Anuj Dhar, who wrote a book on Netaji titled ‘India’s biggest cover up’ said that it should be probed why the government tried to cover up the identity of Bhagwanji.
