Youth shot dead in Gzb, prime accused held for revenge killing

Ghaziabad: A youth was shot dead by five unidentified criminals on Sunday at Delhi-Saharanpur road in Loni area of Ghaziabad.

According to the police, the incident took place near Uttaranchal Society in Loni area around 3 am on Sunday when the deceased was coming home along with his two elder brothers.

Cops said that the deceased has been identified as Zuber(24), who was a cab driver. "The deceased was returning home along with two elder brothers, Shahnawaz and Sabu from a factory," said police.

Shahnawaz, elder brother of the deceased said that nearly five men shot at Zuber during a robbery attempt.

"We were returning home around 3 am on Sunday when a few masked assailants stopped us and asked for money. When we refused, they started thrashing us and during the scuffle one of the assailants shot two bullets on Juber and fled away from the spot when he fell down on road," said Shahnawaz.

Victim's family alleged that police lodged FIR against only two persons while five persons are involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the police officials said that the family of deceased has suspected a man of killing Zuber in order to take revenge.

"Victim's kin told police that Zuber, on Saturday night, had a fight with a man identified as Anuj who works as labourer at a nearby factory. Anuj was beaten up by Zuber during the fight and they suspect that Anuj had killed Zuber in order to take revenge," said Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Ghaziabad.

"Following the incident, we have arrested the prime accused Anuj from his house on Sunday morning. We have interrogated him who confessed to have committed the crime along with his friends. We are further questioning him and trying to arrest other persons involved in the incident" added Jadaun.

Police have registered an FIR under the section of 302 (murder) against Anuj and his one of his associates at Loni Police station.
