Incident occurred on Wednesday in north Delhi’s Maurice Nagar; 19-year-old accused arrested on Thursday, later released on bail.

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday said they have arrested a 19-year-old male student of Delhi University, for his involvement in a hit-and-run case last week which claimed the life of a man in north Delhi's Maurice Nagar. The youth was later released on bail, police added.
Police sources said that the incident took place on January 10, when the youth was driving his BMW X1 car from Kamla Market, at a high speed.

However, the young man failed to control the speeding vehicle and struck Shiv Nath at a high speed.
Sources said that the impact of the collision was so severe that Shiv Nath was flung a few feet into the air after the car struck him.
After the driver realised that he had the man he had hit was badly injured, he drove away from the scene in panic, said police.
A passerby soon informed cops about the incident and Shiv Nath was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Soon, personnel from the Maurice Nagar police station reached the spot of the accident and all available evidence was collected. Police teams were formed to identify the vehicle and the driver.
Their efforts paid off and the young driver was identified and arrested on Thursday.
"We recovered a silver-coloured plastic part of the car from the spot and started looking for the accused.
"Our investigation led us to the Delhi University student and we booked him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code," said a senior police officer on Saturday.
