YEIDA plants 475 fruit saplings along the Yamuna E-way

Promoting a green revolution across various residential sectors along Yamuna Expressway, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Friday took a drive to plant fruit saplings at the green belt area of U-block in sector 20 along the Yamuna Expressway, with YEIDA, CEO Arun Vir Singh kick-starting the programme by planting several saplings in the area.
According to officials, different varieties of fruits and medicinal trees including Mango, Amla, Tamarind, Jamun, Neem, etc were planted across the space. Around 475 saplings were planted on Friday with the help of students and several resident farmers. YEIDA aims to plant about 7,500 saplings across sector 20.
"We have decided to plant 7500 trees in sector 20 in the first phase. This time we have decided to plant fruit trees as they provide fodder to birds and animals. Such plants are important for our ecology and will not only provide food but also give shade to the animals and birds. We have also urged the farmers, residents, school students and locals to participate in the massive plantation drive and should plant at least one tree in their house or locality," CEO Arun Vir Singh told Millennium Post.
He further spoke to the students of Narayana Public School who participated in the plantation drive. He tempted the students with a unique concept that "chocolates are also produced from the trees". He insisted them that if they want to eat chocolates, they must focus on tree plantation.
