YEIDA launches cleanliness drive in 80 villages

GREATER NOIDA: Officials of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Wednesday said they have launched a cleanliness drive across 80 villages which fall under their jurisdiction.
Jewar MLA Thakur Dhirendra Pratap Singh participated in the drive, led by YEIDA CEO Dr Arunvir Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said, "Since the end of Panchayati Raj system in the district, all sanitation workers were suspended from work, affecting nearly hundred small and large villages. Cleanliness work was stopped and garbage piled up due to this, giving rise to vector-borne diseases in the area. Now, YEIDA has again deployed sanitation workers in these villages to resume cleanliness".
The Authority has plans to spend around Rs 62 crores for the development of rural sector from January next year.
"We have pressed several sanitation and health workers into service in all the villages for cleaning and lifting garbage and keeping village environment clean. We are focused on upgrading every village to a smart village. Budget has been passed and in the beginning of next year, we will put in efforts to bring all the development work, which are on papers at present, to ground" said Arunvir Singh.
