XUV mows down two men, driver arrested after CCTV scan

In a tragic accident in outer Delhi's Paschim Vihar, two men, one riding a scooty and another a pedestrian, were killed when an XUV rammed into the scooty and hit the man walking on the roadside on Tuesday.
The speeding vehicle also hit two other pedestrians as well after the driver lost control over the steering wheel who fell into a open drain nearby.
The man on the scooty was thrown several feets up in the air due to the impact of the collission.
Soon, people gathered around the spot and police was informed about the grave incident.
The locals tried to provide help to the injured but the cops reached the accident site in time and took the injured to the hospital.
However, two people could not be saved and were declared dead by doctors.
The deceased has been identified as Durgesh, a resident of Kirari in Delhi.
While Durgesh died in Safdarjung Hospital, another victim Arvind expired at Sanjay Gandhi hospital.
Another pedestrian, Kapil was also got seriously injured in the accident. He is presently undergoing treatment.
Soon after the accident, the cops scanned the CCTV cameras in which the entire accident was caught frame by frame.
Police arrested the accused who was driving the XUV vehicle soon after the thorough investigation.
"The errant driver of the XUV vehicle Saurabh Jain, a resident of Ashok Vihar, has been charged under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and has been arrested," said MN Tiwari, DCP Outer.
