Woman gang-raped in Manesar on last day of year

Gurugram: The last day of the year again highlighted the insecurities of women in the city that witnessed a 25 per cent increase in crimes against women.

A case of gang rape was registered in Manesar police station. The rape survivor in her written complaint alleged that she boarded an auto from a person named Ankit late Sunday night in the Manesar, who then took the victim to an isolated place where he along with three of his friends sexually assaulted her and later fled from the spot.

After the incident, the victim gathered courage and filed a complaint in Manesar police station. Meanwhile, the district police has registered the case under relevant sections and have started their investigation.

The accused have not been caught as of now and are at large. "We have registered a case under the relevant sections and have begun our investigation. At the moment we do not want to put more pressure on the rape survivor. We will soon get hold of the culprits in the case," said a senior police official from Gurugram police.

While in 2017 the incidents reported were 762 this year the cases have increased to 1,006. Making the matters even worse was the spike in crimes

against minors.
