Woman tries to sneak revolver into metro station, arrested

Noida: A 22-year-old woman travelling via the Delhi metro's blue line was found to be in possession of a licensed revolver in her bag at sector 62 metro station of Noida.

Police have arrested the woman who has claimed that the pistol belongs to her husband and she forgot to take it out from her purse.

According to police, the woman has been identified as Payal Chaudhary, a resident of Sector 49 in Gurgaon. Payal works with a private TV news channel.

Shahvez Khan, Station House officer of sector 58 police station said that the woman was arrested on Tuesday night while she was trying to board metro at the Sector 62 metro station.

"The woman was arrested by CISF personnel around 10 pm and was handed over to police. A license pistol has been recovered from her purse and she told police that it belonged to her husband who has its license. She said that he had put it in her purse but she forgot to remove it before leaving the house. The woman could not produce her license for the revolver on the spot," said Khan.

The officer further said that an FIR has been registered into the matter while the woman has been sent for judicial custody.

"The woman was produced in a local court on Wednesday which has remanded her in judicial custody. Such a possession of firearm in metro train is illegal while the pistol also didn't belong to her," added

Khan.
