Woman took hush money from daughter's assaulters, held

New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a woman who reportedly pressurised her daughter to change her statement in court regarding a person who had assaulted her.

The victim herself had approached the cops and registered the complaint against her parents.

According to police, the incident came to light on Sunday when the 15-year-old girl, who lives in outer Delhi, reached the nearby police station and told cops that her parents had taken several lakhs of rupees from some persons who had assaulted her.

"The parents had taken the money and were pressurising the daughter to change her statement incriminating the accused. But the girl refused and she was threatened by her parents," said a police officer.

Police said that the parents threatened her with dire consequences if she refused to comply. The accused had met the parents and given them money and, out of greed, the parents took the hush money.

"We have registered a case and arrested her mother. Further investigation in the case is underway," said the police.
