Woman thrown off building, male friend arrested

New Delhi: A 20-year-old girl was allegedly thrown off from the fourth floor of an under construction building when she resisted a rape attempt by a 22-year-old youth in outer Delhi's Begumpur area.
Police have arrested the accused, identified as Deepak, on Sunday and registered attempt to murder charges against him.
The girl, who has sustained major injuries on her head, is battling for her life at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital and is currently stated to be in coma.
According to DCP (Rohini), Rishi Pal Singh, the incident took place on Thursday night when the woman was accompanied by three people, including the accused who went to visit the under construction building.
A man and a woman stayed inside an auto, while the accused, Deepak, had lured the woman inside the fourth floor of the building on the pretext of taking his car keys.
"The group was on its way to Connaught Place and had hired a rickshaw till Begumpur. The accused wanted to take out his car for the commute. Later, the woman's friends who stayed back heard people gather outside the building shouting that a woman had fallen from the building," said a police officer privy to the investigation.
The woman was found in a semi-naked condition and was taken to hospital where she is being treated.
The victim, who stays with her family in Kirti Nagar worked at a five-star hotel in Delhi where Deepak had earlier worked.
The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and attempt to rape against the accused at Begumpur police station.
