Woman suffers severe burns after acid attack

Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old woman, working as an ARM (Assistant Relation Manager) in Punjab National Bank of Ghaziabad, suffered severe burn injuries on her shoulder after two unidentified bike-borne assailants hurled acid at her on Tuesday morning. Along with the woman, three persons, that include two women and a man, also suffered burn injuries as the acid flew everywhere.
The incident took place in Sahibabad area near Mohan Nagar Temple on Tuesday morning when the victim in auto rickshaw was going to her bank. When the auto rickshaw was passing near Mohan Nagar Temple, two youths chased the auto by their Pulsar bike and suddenly one of them threw acid targeting the face of victim.
The acid also got sprayed on other four auto rickshaw passengers and all of them were injured. The main victim is hospitalized in Narendra Mohan Hospital in Mohan Nagar from where she was referred to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi while the others were discharged after getting first aid at a nearby hospital, the police said.
According to police, the FIR has been lodged into the matter against many accused and one of the accused has been named as Anju, the friend of victim. Anju is suspected in FIR as she and the victim woman were friends but later on some differences developed between them and Anju had warned her to teach a lesson.
Police also said that the victim woman had already lodged a complaint against Anju at a police station in Noida as she was fearing a life threat
from her.
"Based on the complaint given by the family members of the victim, an FIR has been registered and the matter is under investigation. However no arrest has been made so far but probe has been launched and the accused will be arrested shortly," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of police (city), Ghaziabad.
