Woman stabbed to death in Govindpuri after husband asked two men to stand away from her

New Delhi: A woman was stabbed to death by two men in South East Delhi's Govindpuri area on Wednesday night. Police claimed that the accused were standing inappropriately very close to the woman and when her husband told them to stand away, both stabbed his wife. Both the accused were later arrested. The deceased, was identified as Suman, a native of Uttar Pradesh who lived with her husband and children - 3 daughters and one son - aged between 3 and 12.
On 8:47 pm, a call was received at the Govindpuri police station informing that a woman was stabbed on RD Marg. Police claimed that during the investigation, they found that the woman was stabbed and had been taken to the hospital by her husband. She had come to Govindpuri for shopping in the weekly Budh bazaar.
"The husband, Umesh Dubey, is an Über Ola Driver. We also found the two accused on the spot who had been caught and beaten by the public for the stabbing. They were later identified as Ajay (23) and Bijender (24). A knife was also recovered from them. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that the investigating officer searched nearby hospitals for the woman. However, she was not found in any hospital. Later, the police received information from Holy Family Hospital of her death during treatment. She was stabbed in the chest," police officials said.
"The cause behind the stabbing is anger over a quarrel with the husband of the deceased as they were standing inappropriately close to the woman in front of a shop a little while earlier to which the husband had objected," said the DCP. They attacked the husband and the woman came in between and received the fatal stab wound on her chest. A case under sections 302 and 34 IPC has been registered based on the statement of the husband of the deceased and investigation is being taken up.
