Woman nabbed in Gr Noida for blackmailing man from village

Greater Noida: The Surajpur police on Sunday said it arrested a 26-year-old woman from Lakhnawali village for blackmailing a man from her village she had befriended.

Cops said the woman allegedly extorted Rs one lakh and was demanding another ten lakhs after threatening him to file a fake rape case against him.

They added that the woman had come in contact with the victim a couple of months ago and they started meeting at various places. In his complaint, the victim said the woman threatened to file a fake rape case against him and starting extorting money from him. Initially she demanded Rs one lakh, which he transferred into her bank account. When she demanded another ten lakhs from him, he approached cops.

"Based on the complaint received and the evidences produced by the victim, a case of blackmailing was registered against the woman and she had been sent to jail. Prima facie investigation shows that the woman, through WhatsApp, demanded money and used to threaten him," said Manish Chauhan, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
