Woman murdered in Moti Nagar: Nephew arrested

NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old man who murdered his aunt over money was arrested from West Delhi area, Delhi Police said on Saturday.
On Thursday, the deceased, Frescila David, was found dead in her residence in west Delhi's Moti Nagar. Police said that the woman had been killed her by being stabbed with an ice pick over 20 times.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar said that during investigation the name of her nephew Lalit Chandna cropped up.
It came to light that about a month ago, Chandna had asked David's daughter to lend him some money.
However, both the mother and daughter refused to give him any money.
It was also revealed that Chandna was a habitual drinker and was in a financial crisis, as he had been unemployed for the last three-four months.
"On scrutiny of CCTV footage, Lalit was seen entering the house of deceased. He was traced and interrogated.
"Initially, he denied his involvement in the crime and kept misleading the police team. However, finally he broke down," said Kumar.
Police said that the accused told police that he was in dire need of money as he was jobless. He had entered his aunt's house with the intention of robbing her and killing her.
Chandna first accomplished his motive of killing his aunt, and subsequently fled the spot after robbing money and jewellery.
Police claimed that the accused used to sell hosiery items at the weekly market and is an alcoholic.
He was in need of money and had demanded some money from his cousin sister Marlin David, the daughter of the deceased, but she refused to give in to his demands.
Finally, he decided to rob the victim's house.
