Woman lodged rape case against estranged boyfriend, shot dead
Gurugram: At around 7:30 am, the Gurugram police received a PCR call that the body of a woman was found dumped in the Aravalli forests at Khushboo Chowk along the Gurugrm-Faridabad road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the cause of death was due to gun bullets that had pierced through her body. Till mid-afternoon, law enforcement officials were not able to identify the deceased that led them to understand the motive of the unnatural death. Further probe in the case revealed that this was indeed a murder case and the deceased was identified as a woman in her mid 20's who was working in a restaurant in a Gurugram mall.
Further investigation unravelled that the deceased, who belonged to Karnal, had lodged a rape case in the Gurugram woman police station in 2017 against her estranged boyfriend, who has been identified as Sandeep Kumar. Sandeep, a resident of Faridabad, works as a bouncer in one of the nightclubs in Sohna road. However after the incident, he is absconding.
According to the police, Sandeep and the deceased were in a relationship. But, they fell out after Sandeep refused to marry the victim. She later lodged an FIR of how on the pretext of marriage Sandeep had raped her on several occasions. The case was being heard in the district courts. On several occasions, Sandeep threatened the girl and her family to take back the case, however, the victim did not relent.
On Thursday, there was a hearing in the case which was then deferred to the next hearing. In the evening, Sandeep came to the rented room in Nathupur village of the deceased where he again threatened her but later to provide an offer for out of court settlement, he convinced her to come with him for a drive.
He then took her to a desolate location of Aravllis where he reportedly shot her dead. The police officials indicate that there may be a woman witness to the incident who later escaped. "We are presently investigating various aspects to the case. As of now, the main accused seems to be Sandeep Kumar. He is presently absconding. Once he is taken into custody, he can provide vital evidence in connection with the case," said a senior official from Gurugram police.
