Woman killed by burglars inside residence at Sushant Lok

Gurugram: In a gross act of insensitive crime, a 55-year-old widow was brutally murdered by unknown burglars who had entered her house with an aim of committing theft. The deceased has been identified as Alka Kumar.

The victim was staying alone at her house in the posh locality of Sushant Lok in Gurugram when she was attacked.

Her son along with his family live in US. On the night of September 6, the victim's son called her from US on multiple occasions but did not receive any response. Feeling suspicious, he asked his father in law to enquire of what had gone wrong.

On Thursday morning, when he went to see the situation, he witnessed that she was laying dead on the floor and the objects in her was scattered.

According to the police, the burglars tied her and attacked her viciously so that she loses her consciousness. They added that she had sustained severe injuries on her head and abdomen area. Her body has been sent for forensic investigations.

Meanwhile, the case has been registered in Sector -29 police station under Sections of 460 (trespassing the house with intent to cause harm) and 380 ( theft) of the Indian Pena Code (IPC).

"We have filed the case against unknown assailants in the case and have begun our investigations. As of now it seems that this was murder due to the attack by the robbers. However, we are in the process of finding that is there any other reason that would have resulted in her death," said Inspector Vikas Kaushik, Station Head Officer (SHO) of Sector -29 police incident.

"We have sent the body for post mortem and from there we will further know of the detail that led to her death," he added.

The brazen incident of crime has again highlighted the level of insecurity faced by the women in the city when they are alone in their houses.

In earlier cases too, there have been incidents where the burglars have attacked elderly woman and then committed theft in the house.

Shockingly, not only in night but crimes like these also being carried out during day time.

The murder of the widow comes days after the murder of a senior multinational company professional who was also stabbed multiple times by unknown assailants.
