Woman hangs self from ceiling fan

Ghaziabad: A 34-year-old woman, assistant bank manager with a leading private bank, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan inside her in-law's house in Shipra Suncity in Inidrapuram of Ghaziabad.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Divya Singh, a resident of Shipra Suncity, a highrise society in Indirapuram. Her husband worked as a Vice President in a private company in Gurgaon.

Police also recovered a suicide note from the spot. The suicide note states that no one is responsible for her death. She also requested her father to take care of her one year old son.

"On Monday evening police got information about the incident from deceased's father in law. Police reached the spot and found that she was hanging from the ceiling fan through a dupatta," said Shlok Kumar, superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.

"Her father in law told police that she had gone to her bedroom after giving food to her children, Around 7pm, he called her for some work but she was not opening the door and he raised an alarm and called the security for help. They came and broke the door of her bedroom and found her hanging with ceiling fan," he added.

Dr Vinod Yadav, deceased's father and Former Director cums Plant Protection Advisor in Ministry of Agriculture told said that Divya was married with Shailendra Singh around nine years ago.

"She was doing job with HCL technologies but after her marriage, her in laws forced her to leave the job and search for a job in Delhi-NCR. When she didn't get a good job in Delhi-NCR she worked as PO in Gujarat SBI bank. After three months of the job, her husband and in-laws totured her to leave the job in SBI bank and do the work of the house. In February, 2018 she started a new job as an Assistant bank manager in HDFC Bank in Mandawali Branch in Kalkaji area of Delhi," said Yadav.

"On the basis of complaint, an FIR has been registered against Shailendra and his three family members under the section of 302 (punishment of murder) of IPC. Both are detained by police for questioning," SP city said.
