Woman comes from Agra to see ailing father, shot in robbery bid

New Delhi: A woman, who has visited Delhi to see her ailing father suffering from Cancer, has been shot at in her left thigh by unidentified assailants outside her house in Aman Vihar in Outer Delhi on Sunday evening.

The woman was rushed to the hospital where she is undergoing treatment. She has alleged that she has been robbed of the gold chain that she was wearing. As soon as the call was received by the police, a team from Aman Vihar Police station reached the spot and the woman was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for treatment where her condition is said to be stable.

According to the victim Geeta, she has visited her parents in Satya Enclave of Aman Vihar. On Sunday evening, she was sitting outside her house and warming herself along with her mother when two men allegedly on foot came to them and asked them for money. When they resisted, Geeta alleged that the duo snatched the gold chain she was wearing. However, before fleeing they shot at Geeta in her left thigh.

However, the cops said that there is some difference in the sequence of events in the incident. Police further said that her statements are being verified and a team has been formed to arrest the accused assailants.

"The assailants were three in number and they first put a pistol on my mother's head but when my sister resisted and confronted them they shot her in leg and fled," said Sumit, the victim's brother.

"We have registered a case and our investigation is on. The woman is out of danger now. We have taken her statement along with her mother's. We are also checking the CCTV cameras of the area to get more clue about the incident," said Rajender Sagar, additional DCP Outer Delhi. According to sources, the mother of the victim has some cases registered against her in the local police station. It is said that they deal in the liquor business and it could be possible that the assailants came to target victim's mother but when Geeta resisted, she was shot at. Police has now formed several teams to arrest the accused.
