Woman attacked for objecting lewd remarks

New Delhi: A 24-year-old woman was attacked with a sharp object by a drunken security guard after she objected his lewd remarks in Dabri area of Dwarka district on Monday. Police have arrested the accused.

According to police, the victim, works in private sector, was returning home when the incident took place. Minutes before the incident, the woman came out from metro station in Dwarka area and was walking near side of the flyover. "She was going to Subzi Mandi where her father was waiting for her in his TSR," said police officer. Meanwhile, the woman noticed that one person passed lewd remarks on her, at the first instance she ignored the accused. "He continues to follow the girl and passing comments on her. After some time, the victim objected his activity," said police officer.

Meanwhile, she reached the place where her father waiting with his vehicle and they were about to go home when accused came inside TSR and attacked her with the sharp object. "The girl tried to save her in which she received injuries in hand and other parts of the body," added the officer. The girl pushed the accused from the auto after which he fell down.

The victim alerted nearby people who catch the accused and beaten by the public. Later, police were informed in the case and accused arrested. "He was identified as 55-year-old Raman who works as security guard in Dabri area and was unknown to the victim," said police official. A case has been registered under sections 354, 324 and 309 of IPC.
