Woman alleges gang-rape inside East Delhi flat, five held

A woman has alleged that she was gang-raped by a group of men in a flat located at East Pandav Nagar in East Delhi.

The woman claimed she jumped from the first floor of the house to escape the men and suffered injuries to her leg. Police on Sunday arrested five accused and are currently questioning them regarding the case.

According to a senior police official, police had received a call in the early hours of Sunday.

"We had received a PCR call that a woman had jumped from a flat located in East Pandav Nagar and was injured. We sent in a police team and an ERV (emergency response vehicle) was deputed to the spot. The woman, a mother of two, was found and was shifted to LBS Hospital, where she is being treated for her leg injuries".

The police later apprehend the five accused from the flat after the woman had reportedly told the police that they attempted to rape her. The police recorded her statement and later lodged an FIR under appropriate sections of IPC at East Pandav Nagar police station.

When the woman was questioned, the police found that she had left for the flat from her house in Munirka to meet one of her friends. Later, she claimed that they were joined by the group, to which she objected.

She alleged that the group tried to rape her and she jumped from the balcony. The men have been identified as workers of a BPO located in Noida.

"We are conducting medical tests on the woman to ascertain her claims. The accused are also being questioned," the official said.
