: Amid reports that the power discoms in Delhi are mulling tariff hike, Delhi BJP on Friday said it will not allow the government and power operators to hike rates.
Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said that people are already paying high tariffs and the discoms – in which the government and private operators are partners – have been making hefty profits.
Tiwari said: "Operational losses or loss due to theft too are very low. In fact, operators are enjoying benefits of huge infrastructure they got from the earlier Delhi Vidyut Board. The report of losses is a jugglery of accounts and it would be exposed in any basic audit of the private operators accounts."
"It is strange that the Kejriwal-led government, which ran a long campaign to expose the jugglery of accounts by private operators, is today silent on the issue and is allowing loot of public money in the name of power subsidy," he added.
Tiwari demanded that instead of allowing any power tariff hike, the government should ask operators to put their accounts for public scrutiny audit, and if refused their agreement should be cancelled.
