'Will fight threats, bullying against Delhi women'

NEW DELHI: The newly-appointed president of the Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress Sharmistha Mukherjee said on Friday that she would fight and resist all threats and bullying tactics against the women in Delhi. Addressing Delhi Mahila Congress workers and media after assuming her post, Mukherjee said, "'Our strength is that our social media efforts are entirely organic and volunteer-based. We don't have paid social media volunteers. We will fight and resist all threats and bullying tactics against the women in Delhi."
She also said that the country was now passing through a difficult phase as the economy was in doldrums, and as a result prices of essential commodities have hit the sky. She said whenever the prices of essential commodities shoot up, women are the first to be affected, as they have to manage the household expenses on a shoe-string budget. Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit said more and more women should be brought to politics to bring them into the mainstream. She said she was confident that under Sharmistha Mukherjee, Mahila Congress will gain strength in Delhi.
