Was honey-trapped, says BJP MP; woman cries rape

After facing allegations of rape, KC Patel, the BJP MP from Valsad in Gujarat, filed a complaint against a Delhi-based lawyer, alleging that he was honey-trapped by an extortion gang headed by the lawyer.

On the other hand, the woman – who was reported to have been involved in trapping the MP – refuted the charges that she was part of an extortion gang.

She told mediapersons on Monday, "I have been repeatedly sexually exploited by the MP. He asked me to come to his official residence regarding a Supreme Court matter. At his house, he forced himself on me and raped me," she said.

The woman has also claimed that she has been receiving threats to her life as the MP had allegedly told her that he was a member of the Government in power.

"He threatened me with dire consequences if I ever told about it to anyone. He told me that he is from the government, which is in power at the Centre, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. We can do anything," she said.

The MP, in his complaint with the Delhi Police, has claimed that he was drugged and filmed in an objectionable manner, and the woman later had demanded Rs5 crore from him.

The Delhi Police have confirmed the development and have registered a case of extortion. They have also launched a manhunt for the extortion gang.

"After looking into the complaint, we have decided to launch register a case of extortion against the woman," said a senior police official, privy to the investigation.

While speaking to reporters on Monday morning, the BJP MP claimed that the extortion gang was trying to defame him.

He claimed that he was lured by the woman to a house based in Ghaziabad and given drinks laced with sedatives.

"The allegations against me are false, I believe that the investigators will soon come out with the truth," he told reporters. When asked about the video tape used for the alleged extortion, he replied: "I will not comment on the tape. I am ready to cooperate with the investigators. I have full faith in the law."

The initial FIR in the case was registered after a Delhi court had asked the police to register an FIR in the case after the woman alleged that the police was not cooperating with her.
After the FIR was registered, Patel hit back, claiming that he was duped by a Ghaziabad based gang.
