Wanted robber arrested for shooting at lady doctor

NEW DELHI: A notorious robber who attacked and shot a lady doctor in Rohini while trying to snatch her gold chain was arrested by Delhi Police on Wednesday, along with his two associates. A member of Tillu gang, Deepak alias Deepu was involved in over seven cases including murder, attempt to murder, abduction and robberies.

Timely action by the Anti-Auto Theft Squad of Rohini police averted the murder of a property dealer of Kanjhawala area. In this regard, three cases were registered in Prashant Vihar police staion and a stolen motorcycle was seized from their possession.

"He disclosed his involvement in a robbery case in the area of PS North Rohini, wherein he shot a lady doctor while snatching her gold chain," said Rishipal, DCP Rohini.

Deepak was wanted at Alipur police station for a case abduction-cum-murder and at Mundka police station for abduction-cum-robbery.

He was involved in the brutal murder of Sanjay Verma, wherein the deceased was abducted from Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in broad daylight and beaten up to get the information of their rival gangster Jitender.

Refusing to give any information, Verma was shot dead and his body was burnt with petrol near Yamuna River.
