Wanted criminal held from Kanpur

NEW DELHI: The Crime Branch has arrested a member of Raju Hakla gang from Kanpur, UP who was wanted in a bus robbery case of Mayapuri in Delhi. The accused was declared proclaimed offender by the trial court and a cash reward of Rs 25,000 was declared by CP Delhi Police on his arrest. The arrested accused person has been identified as Gaurav Sonkar alias Rahul resident of Kanpur City, UP.

On 27 October, ASI Santraj Singh posted in Inter-border Gangs Investigation Squad, Dwarka received a secret information about hideouts of the accused in Kanpur City, UP. The Crime Branch team immediately swung into action and traced the hideout of the wanted criminal in Kanpur City and he was finally apprehended at Khatkana Latouche Road and was arrested under appropriate sections of law.
Interrogation of the accused Gaurav Sonkar revealed that his family had shifted from Kanpur, UP to Subzi Mandi, Delhi long ago and then to Sultan Puri area.
"During this period, he fell in bad company and started his criminal career with petty offences. Thereafter, he came in contact with Raju Hakla, a desperate criminal of the area who was running a gang of pick-pocketers in Delhi. Raju Hakla is gang leader of pick-pockets and is involved in more than 70 cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, arms act, hurt." DCP Crime Bhishm Singh said. Accused Gaurav Sonkar joined Hakla's gang and remained involved in cases of arms act, theft, preparation of dacoity in the area of police stations Nangloi, Sultan Puri and Mangol Puri.
