Wanted criminal arrested after gunfight in Noida

Noida: A wanted criminal, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, has been arrested by Noida Unit of Special Task Force (STF) after a gun battle in Phase-II police station area of Noida.

Police said that the accused was wanted in a robbery-cum-murder case of a guard amid a Rs 50 lakh loot at a bank in Allahabad.

According to police, the arrested accused had been identified as Suraj, a native of Khurja area in Bulandshahr but currently lived at a rented house in Gurugram.

Cops said that the accused had fled away an police encounter on Sunday while his accomplice was arrested.

Raj Kumar Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), STF said that the accused was wanted in a robbery and murder case of a guard during a loot at a bank in Gonda area of Allahabad.

"STF team have already arrested one of the accomplices of Suraj on Sunday, following a gun battle, however Suraj managed to flee the spot.

"Police teams were conducting searches at various hideouts and arrested him after an exchange of fire on late Tuesday nightm," said Mishra.

The officer further said that the accused was an active member of dreaded Bawariya gang and was found to be a part of a number crimes committed by the gang.
