Violent crimes against cab passengers a worrying trend

GURUGRAM: The 27-year-old executive, who had left for Haridwar from Gurugram to attend a family ceremony, was left with very few choices and chose to avail the services of a cab which was plying in the heart of city centre.
The car which he took had two people. After a while he became suspicious and texted detail of the cab to his wife.
An hour later he becomes untraceable.
On Friday, his mutilated body was found in the jungles of South-West Delhi and the robbers had drawn more than 60,000 from his account.
While the case has again raised the issues of security of common citizens in Delhi-NCR this trend is not an unfamiliar situation especially in Gurugram.
In May this year, a Delhi-based executive was abducted n Sohna road and taken to Rajasthan where on the way he was force to make various transactions in the ATM's.
His abductors who were later arrested did it so that they could get some returned as they had lost the amount in betting.
Even after arrests the brazenness of these crimes did not cease and in October this year a businessman along with his friend were kidnapped from Manesar. In process the Audi by which they were travelling was also taken.
In this case too, the culprits took the victims outside the city so that it was a challenge for law enforcement officials to trace them.
According to police, gangs from Mewat, Alwar and Delhi often carry out such acts in Gurugram, so as to rob a hefty sum of money from the victims.
