Villagers thrash five Gurugram civic workers, two booked

Five Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) workers were injured after they were thrashed brutally by a mob of 15 villagers in Nathupur area near DLF Phase-3.
The workers had gone to the area on Wednesday to catch hold of stray animals.
The presence of public officials however did not go well with some residents in that area who felt that the officials had come there to harass them.
The group of workers attacked the five workers with rods, hockey sticks and stones.
The villagers even attacked the public vehicle and caused damages to it.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram officials who were attacked and have injured in the incident have been identified as Sudhir Kumar, Karan Singh, Vijay, Naresh and Ram.
After the incident, the case has been registered at the DLF Phase-2 police station against Sundar and Kalu, the two people who are believed to have led the mob.
"It seems that the villagers were unhappy with the workers trying to capture the stray animals that were increasing in large numbers in the area. After the incident we have a filed a case and hope that the culprits will soon be punished as per law," said V Umashankar, the chief of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram.
