Vikas Chaudhary grew quickly in field of politics

Faridabad: For a person who was a first-generation politician, the rise of 42-year-old Vikas Chaudhary's dynastic world of Haryana politics was quick and impressive.

Born and raised in Faridabad, Chaudhary began his political activities from the student days. Chaudhary was born in a middle-class household to father Ram Chaudhary and mother Kusum Lata Chaudhary. His popularity as a leader, especially in Faridabad, continued to show an upward trend despite allegations of him being embroiled in various criminal activities.

What made him rise as a local leader even more prominent was his affiliation with Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), a strong regional party that did not have much of base in Faridabad.

According to sources, he was chosen to be the face of INLD in Faridabad by Ajay Chautala, the elder son of Om Prakash Chautala. Among the key issue that got him the political recognition was the protest to remove the Gurugram- Faridabad toll.

In 2014, after INLD faced a defeat in the Haryana Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections Chaudhary joined the Congress party.

Sources indicate that he was persuaded to join the party by no less than the former Chief Minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda who wanted to make Congress stronger from the grass roots levels in the district.

The first responsibility given to Chaudhary was to be the spokesperson of the party and in this role, he raised several issues that not only plagued Faridabad but also Haryana. His success as a party spokesperson led the party to make him in charge of the Faridabad assembly elections that were to be held this October.

Besides being a young and successful politician, Chaudhary was also a successful businessman. According to sources Chaudhary used to run a financing firm that used to give loans in the personal capacity to various ventures.
