Upset over being suspended by hospital, nurse tries to end her life

NEW DELHI: A 33-year-old female woman nurse working at a private hospital tried to commit suicide in the hosital's premises in South Delhi area on Friday night.
The woman had used a surgical blade to try to kill herself.
According to police, on Friday, around 9.30 pm, information of a MLC Call was received at Vasant Kunj (South) police station from ILBS Hospital.
It was informed that a female staff of the hospital, identified as Jeena Joseph had tried to commit suicide inside the toilet of the hospital.
Joseph, a resident of Kishangarh near Vasant Kunj, was found bleeding profusely in the toilet by her colleagues.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chinmoy Biswal stated that MLC of the woman was received from the hospital, wherein the doctor has stated the nature of the woman's injury as simple. The nurse has been discharged.
"During the inquiry, it was revealed that the nurse was working in the hospital as a patient care executive (nursing) on a contract basis for the last four years.
"On September 28, she was dispensed from service by the hospital authorities on the administrative ground (misconduct while discharging her official duty)," said Biswal.
Police claimed that being aggrieved at her suspension, she had challenged the order.
Reportedly upset over the suspension, Joseph attempted to kill herself in the hospital premises.
As per the report of examining doctor, her condition is stable and she left the hospital after appropriate treatment.
