Two youth held for theft of two-wheelers to buy drugs

NEW DELHI: Two youth who used to fuel their drug habit by selling off stolen articles were on Wednesday arrested by Outer Delhi police from Mangolpuri. The accused are involved in over 10 cases of vehicle theft.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Pankaj Kumar Singh said the two accused, identified as Hari Om (25) and Ravi (28), would steal motorcycles and sell the petrol, battery and other parts from the vehicles for around Rs 1,000 to purchase drugs.
Police said that during interrogation, the accused disclosed they were good friends and indulged theft of motorcycles to satisfy their lust for drugs and manage their personal expenses. The accused were arrested after a tip-off was received that they would come near a wine shop in Industrial Area Phase-I in Mangolpuri.
A total 11 stolen two-wheelers, including 10 motorcycles and one scooty, were recovered from the accused.
"A trap was laid and the accused, who were on one Hero Passion Pro motorcycle, were nabbed. When they were asked to produce the documents of the motorcycle, they tried to mislead the raiding team by presenting wrong facts and failed to produce any documents. On verification, the motorcycle was found to have been stolen," said Singh.
