Two separate murders in Gzb

Ghaziabad: In two separate incidents of murder, a 70-year-old woman was allegedly killed by unidentified robbers during a robbery bid while a 26-year-old body builder also succumbed to bullet injuries after nearly half a dozen unidentified criminals opened fire at him in Modinagar area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

In first incident, that took place on late Tuesday night, unidentified criminals barged into the house of an elderly woman and brutally murdered her by slitting the throat during a robbery bid.

"A PCR call was received on Wednesday morning that an elderly woman had been found murdered under suspicious circumstances at her house in village Sikri Kalan of Modinagar area. A police team rushed to the spot and found that the woman was lying in a pool of blood at her bed with her hands and legs tied with a rope. The body was taken to police custody and was sent for post mortem," a senior police officer said.

Cops said that the deceased identified as Savitri Saini had been living alone at the house as her husband has died around 40 years ago while her son was living separately.

In another incident, a body builder who had participated in several body building championships was killed after nearly half a dozen unidentified bike borne criminals opened fire at him on Wednesday evening.

Cops said that the deceased identified as Deepak was a native of Krishna Kunj colony in Modinagar area.

"The incident occurred while Deepak was on the way to his home when four unidentified criminals, riding on two motorcycles, fired around seven rounds of bullets on him which hit his chest and back," the officer added.

Sources said that Deepak was killed in a rivalry as he had gained a liquor shop license, around a month ago, and a few residents of his village went into enmity with him.
