Two persons involved in train dacoity arrested

New Delhi: The Delhi Railway Police arrested two persons involved in train dacoity case of Gold Jewellery (worth Rs 40-45 lakhs) happened between Sadar Bazaar and New Delhi railways stations.

Police identified the accused as Mukesh Kumar Sharma (34) and Dinesh (29) (mastermind).

The complainant (38), native of Bihar, reported that on May 9, he collected gold jewellery to be delivered to jewellers in Bihar from Kucha Mahajani in Chandni Chowk. At about 7. 00 pm, he boarded in a local train from Sadar Bazar for New Delhi Railway Station.

Soon after the train left, four persons started beating him in the train robbed all the jewellery from him. After committing robbery the assailants jumped off the moving train.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railway) Dinesh Kumar Gupta said that after detailed investigation they zeroed down Dinesh who was apprehended from Bihar. The accused had suffered huge losses of about 10 lakhs in MCX commodity trading.

"The other accused Sharma was under debt and in desperate need of money. The main accused was in contact with Santosh Kumar Paswan, who also worked with the jewellers in Kucha Mahajani. In the last week of April 2019, the trio gathered for a cocktail party and discussed a plan to rob the gold carriers," said DCP Railway.

"They decided in the meeting that Mukesh will inform about the arrival and departure of gold carriers to Dinesh, who in turn will inform Santosh who with the help of other persons will execute the robbery," police said.

As planned, on May 9 Mukesh informed the mastermind about a complainant who further informed and alerted other accused.

Thereafter, Santosh along with his associates committed the crime.

The team formed under the leadership of Joint CP (Transport Range) Atul Katiyar made the arrest.
