Two killed as boundary wall collapses in Noida

Noida: A five-year-old girl and her mother were crushed to death while two of their other family members got injured after a boundary wall of Antriksh Golf view-2 building collapsed on nearby slums in Noida Sector-78 on Wednesday night.
According to police officials, the wall had collapsed following heavy rains. The deceased have been identified as Muskaan and her mother Kanchan. Muskaan's father Vishveshwar Mandal and her grandmother Sushila were among those who got injured in the incident.
"The incident took place at around 8pm on Wednesday. The boundary wall of the residential complex collapsed on the nearby slum areas. A family of four members was trapped underneath it. The victims were rushed to the hospital where doctors declared two of them brought dead. The others are getting treatment at the hospital," said Parshuram, station house officer, Sector 49 police station.
The locals alleged that despite making several calls for the ambulance, the help was delayed which led to the death of the child and her mother. After the incident, there was a state of fear among the people residing in these slums and they denied sleeping in these units for the night.
Meanwhile, a representative from one of the home buyer's associations said, "The incident highlights poor quality of building material used by the builders in their projects. If the wall would have collapsed towards the side of the project, it would have proved more disastrous.
"We demand authority and the government to conduct inspections of all the builder's projects checking the quality of material they are using in their projects," said Anu Khan, founder, Noida Extension Flat Owner's Main Association (NEFOMA).
