Two held for shooting 20-yr-old dead who resisted robbery

Noida: Gautam Buddh Nagar Police on Sunday said they have arrested two persons for allegedly killing a 20-year-old grocery shop owner during a robbery attempt in Bhangel area of Noida, in February this year.
Police said the arrested men were identified as Praveen and Jogendra, natives of Phase-2 area of Noida, and two illegal country-made pistols, four cases of live ammunitions and some cash from their possession.
"Acting on a tip-off, the arrest was made from Kakrala area under Phase-2 on Saturday night. The criminals confessed that they shot the trader, as he resisted the robbery. Around Rs 2.5 lakh of cash was snatched by the robbers, of which we have recovered Rs 30,080. Two other accomplices, Sachin and Rohit, are still at large and we are conducting raids at several suspected locations to nab them" said Arun Kumar Singh, Superintendent of police, Noida.
Discussing their criminal history, Singh told reporters "Around 20 cases are registered against Praveen, of which 17 are heinous, including murder, loot and others. Jogendra also holds a similar history," said Singh.
Diwakar Kansal, 20, was shot dead by four armed persons on the night of February 25, when he was walking home with his father Raj Kumar Kansal after closing their shop.
Diwakar was shot dead for resisting the robbery bid, after which the assailants fled with cash bag.
Following the incident, massive protests were carried out by family members of the deceased and locals.
