Two held for multiple robberies

Noida: Gautam Buddh Nagar police have arrested two persons who were found to have been involved in two separate robbery incidents near Mahamaya flyover in Noida on Saturday. Police officials said that the accused robbed a cab after keeping the driver captive and assaulted him several times with knife before dumping him off the vehicle.

According to police, the arrested accused were identified as Sarjil alias Sona and Shoaib Malik, both natives of Bulandshahr district. Police officials said that accused Sarjil is a history Sheeter of notorious Mona-Sona gang, which have committed several robberies in western Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas. "Both the accused were arrested following a brief encounter with sector 39 and Expresway police in sector 135 area on Saturday" said police.

Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Gautam Buddh Nagar told reporters that the gang committed three crimes in a span of two hours in Delhi-NCR region.

"On the night of June 7, four accused, including the two arrested by police, robbed a woman of her chain and injured her by breaking a glass bottle on her head in Delhi around 9.30 pm. They came to Noida afterwards and at around 10:30 pm, they robbed a car from sector 135 area of Noida under sector 39 police jurisdiction. During robbery, the accused assaulted the driver multiple times with a knife, drove him around the city for sometime before dumping him off near sector 105" said Krishna. The officer further said that the accused were on a robbery spree and also committed another robbery in Expressway police station area of Noida on the same night.

"The accused had fled away with the stolen car and soon after this they robbed a person of his mobile phone in the expressway police station area. Preliminary investigations showed that all the accused had first consumed alcohol at their friend's place in Delhi and then went out to commit robbery" added Krishna. Meanwhile police said that two of their accomplices, Sharik and Alikhan are absconding.
