Two held for killing head constable

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday said that they had solved the murder case of head constable who was shot dead in Jaitpur area last year. The investigating agency arrested two men from Alwar area in the case. Police identified the accused as Chinder Pal (22) and Irshad Khan (19). However, one of the associates is still absconding.

The investigating agency further disclosed that during investigation, it was found that on September 11, 2018, the accused persons were roaming on their bike in the area of Jaitpur and targeted a bike parked in the residential area near Tanki Road, Meethapur.

"Accused were conducting recee before stealing the bike. In the meantime, deceased HC Ram Avtar reached the spot and got suspicious about the movement of accused persons, " police said.

Adding furtherr, police said that Ram Avtar questioned the accused persons about their presence in the area but none of them gave satisfactory reply. "The assailants thought that Ram Avtar might be a hurdle so they decided to eliminate him. Chinder Pal shot him with a country-made pistol. Thereafter, all three accused persons fled on their bike from the spot, " police said.

Later on September 12, 2018, police were informed by the hospital that Ram Avtar was declared brought dead due to gunshot injury.
