Two detained for raping girl in north east Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police have detained two men in connection with the alleged rape of a girl in north east Delhi.
According to police, the incident was reported from Jyoti Nagar area.
"The complainant and her mother reached the police station on Wednesday and reported the incident after which the investigation was started," said DCP (North East) Ajit Kumar Singla.
In her complaint, the girl said that she was taken to a room by one of the two men, whom she had known for six months. She was then assaulted, beaten up and subsequently raped by some men.
The girl also told cops that she was threatened with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
After she reached home, the girl disclosed the incident to her mother.
As per Delhi Police data, last year, more than 89 per cent of rape cases were solved, whereas in 2016, the city police had managed to work out 82.98 per cent of the total rape cases.
More than 9,000 accused persons involved in rape and molestation cases were also nabbed by the police.
More than 76 per cent of cases of molestation were solved in 2017, whereas in 2016, the percentage was recorded at 65.64.
