Two criminals held for shooting ASI

New Delhi: Two persons who shot an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in robbery bid arrested from Geeta Colony flyover. Police claimed that the accused had involved in more than 10 criminal cases.

Police identified the accused as Arman Farhaz (30) and Mohammad Riaz (34).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nupur Prasad stated that Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Vedi Ram posted at Nizamuddin police station complained that while he was going to Seelampur on his personal bike after completing his duty.

At about 11-45 pm near Golden Jubilee Park on February 7, two persons came on Bullet Motorcycle, stopped him and told him to hand over his belongings.

"When complainant resisted, he was shot in the stomach and both of them fled away. They also took his mobile phones, purse etc," said DCP North. She further stated that the team succeeded in identifying the two suspected criminals. Thereafter, acting upon a tip-off, a trap on Geeta Colony flyover was laid by the team along with secret informer, on the pointing out of secret informer they nabbed the accused.

Farhaz was released from jail a year ago whereas Riaz is history-sheeter of the area of Lahori Gate police station. He was in jail and released on parole on February 6.
