Two boys die in Noida road accident

Noida: Two boys, aged 18 and 19 years, died after the scooter they were travelling collided with a tree at Noida-Greater Noida Expressway near sector 15A on late Wednesday night. According to police, the deceased were identified as Rahul (18) and Pratap (19), both natives of Laxmi Nagar area of New Delhi. Police said that dense smog causing low visibility seems to the reason behind the accident.

"The incident took place near gate number 5 of Dalit Prerna Sthal on the Expressway. Police teams reached the spot and took the victims to hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. Their bodies have been handed over to family after getting the postmortem done," said Manoj Pant, SHO, sector 20 police station.

Police officials said that they received no complaint in the matter while the reason behind the accident appears to be low visibility. "Both the victims were traveling on a scooter and were going to Noida from Delhi when the vehicle collided with a tree. Prima facie it appears that low visibility in night was the reason behind the accident however we will investigate the matter if a complaint is given to us," added Pant.

A dense layer of smog engulfed the city on late Wednesday night with the rise in number of suspended particulate materials in the air shrinking the visibility on roads to just few meters.
