Two arrested for robbery in Sahibabad

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police have worked out a Rs 28 lakh robbery case in Sahibabad area and arrested two rewarded criminal carrying bounty of Rs 25, 000 each on their head. Cops said that the alleged robbery incident took place on February 2 near Lohia park area of Sahibabad.

According to police, the arrested accused have been identified as Meghnath and Deepak, both residents of Agota area in Bulandshahr district. Police have recovered Rs 50,000 cash, an illegal country made pistol and a Maruti WagonR car used in robbery.

On February 2 evening, Om Prakash, a Ghaziabad based businessman, had come to make payment against a property which he had recently bought. Around five unidentified men allegedly intercepted Prakash's car and threatened him at gunpoint. They further robbed him of Rs 28 lakh cash and fled away from the spot. Police team worked out the case and arrested three accused in connection with the case on February 8. However, the two other accused were arrested on Tuesday night.

Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad said that all these criminals were friends to the property agent who had fixed the property deal with Prakash.

"During interrogations, it came to light that Prakash had fixed a property deal with a Sahibabad based property agent, Rambhool, for Rs 70 lakh. On the day of incident, he had come to make part payment against the property. The criminals were already aware of Prakash's movement as they were informed by the property agent. They allegedly stopped his vehicle on the way and robbed the cash at gunpoint," said Kumar. Police have already arrested Parvendra, Ashok Rana and Harish in connection with the case.
